The Five Element Medicine Path Practitioner Training Program
This Practitioner Training program spans three years and is offered in an Intensive Format (8 sessions of 4 days each). If you’ve read Jaki’s latest book, The Medicine Path: A return to the healing ways of our indigenous ancestors, you will have been introduced to Jaki's unique approach to natural healing, combining Classical Chinese Medicine – Five Element Theory and the healing ways of our indigenous ancestors, which involve an intimate relationship with Nature and the land on which we live.
The technical foundation for the program is based on Classical Chinese Medicine - Five Element Theory. Textbooks used are written by J.R. Worsley, the man who brought this method of diagnosis and treatment to the Western world.
Jaki has developed a program in which the method used within this theoretical framework is unique to each student. They are based on each individual’s inherent gifts and talents, the skills they are willing to develop, and the spiritual relationships they hold. It is designed for serious students who want to dedicate their lives to helping others and being in service through assisting with their healing journey of life. The focus is not only relieving illness, but optimizing the possibilities for health on all levels, body, mind, and spirit.
The video below provides a comprehensive explanation of Jaki's approach.
In April 2020 a new cycle of training will begin, organized into a series of “intensive” sessions to accommodate out-of-town students. Session dates will be announced but will be held in the months of April, July and October in 2020, February, May, August and November in 2021, and February 2022.
Internship/Clinical Supervision is arranged individually with practitioners after they have graduated from the program, and is required to become a practitioner.
NOTE: THIS IS A SMALL GROUP TRAINING AND IS CONDUCTED IN THE STYLE OF THE TRADITIONAL WAYS, with oral teachings, sharing circles, both classroom and outdoor field work, and most importantly, an acknowledgement and nurturing of each student’s unique gifts and talents. Training is limited to ten registrants.

Description of Five Element Healing
Classical Chinese Medicine Five Element Healing is one of the world’s oldest healing traditions and has been in continuous use for approximately 2500 years. It is an extremely complex system of medicine based in the laws of nature, the cycles of life, and the flow of life-force energy. This life-force energy (sometimes called chi or ki), which all living beings possess, flows through the body in precise pathways that are called meridians. Twelve meridians run bilaterally up and down the body and provide the foundation of our functional support on all levels, body, mind, and spirit. Our life-force energy is the ‘force’ that fuels and animates every aspect of who we are, from our physical organs and systems, to the clear functioning of the mind, to the joyful and compassionate nature of our spirit. We can only ‘be’ as functional and effective in our lives and relationships as the life-force energy which flows through our meridians. If there are blocks or disruptions to the flow symptoms will appear as alarm signals to alert the patient that corrections are needed.
In Five Element healing however, it is not the symptoms that are treated. A treatment is the re-establishment of the full flow of life-force energy in ALL the meridians. This begins the process of restoring your body/being to the functionality required to activate the innate, natural healing processes, re-establishes balance throughout the systems, and begins the process of the restoration of health. In the early stages of treatment, the body/being will only be able to sustain the full flow of life force energy temporarily, soon falling back into old, established patterns. With regular treatments however, the life force energy begins to ‘remember’ this ideal, healthy state, resumes and finally maintains this natural pattern of flow and the patient returns to wellness. Traditionally, Five Element Healing was used as preventive health care. For normal healthy people seasonal treatments can help keep their physical systems tuned, their emotions balanced, their mental health in check, and their spirits happy and at peace.
There are several key features to Five Element Healing that are important to note:
By assessing the quality and quantity of life-force energy that flows through each meridian, via the meridian ‘pulses’ which can be felt at the wrists of the patient, a five element practitioner can detect imbalances that may not yet have reached the symptomatic level and can therefore be corrected before the onset of illness. Because our life-force energy powers all functions, body, mind, and spirit, this form of healing can be utilized for symptoms that are not physical, and appear at the level of the emotions, the mind, and/or the spirit. Invisible and hard-to-reach conditions such as depression, anxiety, and sleeplessness are as available to amelioration via balancing the meridian pathways and their life-force energy as physical symptoms, thereby allowing for ‘balanced wellness’.
While traditionally five element healing was accomplished via accessing the meridian pathways with needles (a form of acupuncture), Jaki and her trained practitioners use a safe, non-invasive method that draws upon their unique healing gifts, skills, and understanding of the nature of healing and medicine.
"Five Element Healing is the most comprehensive and effective form of natural healing I have ever come across. It requires calling upon our deepest senses, and developing a relationship with nature, and the elements within nature, both for ourselves and our patients. Still in my first year of practise I can tell you that every day this work brings lots of amazement, what I like to call the small and big miracles. From my patients’ comments I can confidently say that this is a life-changing healing method, totally unrivalled.
The way Jaki teaches this form of healing leaves each student open to find their own individual medicines and therefore express themselves fully, and to their best abilities. I believe this is the most effective way, in turn, to bring healing and balance to another. Jaki has developed such relationships with Nature and Spirit that they are reflected in the way she brings us to this modality: with openness and respect, making room for the expression of each student’s individual connection to the elements, all the while making sure we follow a thorough methodology.
This healing approach is so natural, so simple, and makes so much sense that one cannot help but wonder why it has not been more fully embraced in North America …my wish is that as many people as possible get trained in this modality and as many patients as possible get touched by the beauty and harmony of the five elements."
